Job Title: Vernacular Media Technician

Reports to: Vernacular Media Coordinator / Arts Specialist
Location: Mbeya


Job Description

This position is responsible for field audio and video productions and for other technical services relating to the production and use of media tools.

 

Key Responsibilities

A. Media Creation

  • Operates recording and post-production equipment for field vernacular media productions.
  • Recommends equipment for the distribution of the vernacular media tools that are available.
  • Coordinates technical input with other vernacular media personnel as appropriate.
  • Will be assigned as a member of a vernacular media department, where there are others who will be responsible for the programming and consulting with teams, entity administrators, NBTOs, and other organizations.
  • May be assigned to technical jobs relating to the operation of creating media for the vernacular.

B. Ethnoarts

  • In there area of Ethnoarts one focus will be on encouraging and engaging local traditional and modern artists to create new artistic products that touch on relevant topics connected to community goals and community development.
  • The main task will be the preparation of arts recordings, the recording event itself and the post-production of audio and video products.

C. Additional Roles & Responsibilities (5%)

Undertake other duties as may be assigned by supervisor related to fulfilling program objectives and improving internal controls and financial operations for the overall achievement of SIL’s goals.

Education and Experience

  • College degree helpful
  • Attendance of Vernacular Media Core Courses while on the job
  • Training in technical media application or interest in technical media applications
  • Possession of natural technical and mechanical abilities
  • Previous multicultural experience helpful
